Introduction

This web site was developed in December 2012 by the team of students listed below and under the direction of Professor David Voelker for a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay class titled Problems in American Thought: Wilderness.  This web site answers the question; How have National and Wisconsin land trusts influenced wetland protection, management and restoration and allowed the wilderness ideal to remain a vital component to Wisconsin wetlands.

To reconcile the wilderness ideal and its connection to wetlands one must heed the environmental warnings to the continued loss of wetlands. This project gives a historical perceptive of wetlands, discusses the environmental impacts to the loss of wetlands, the legislation to protecting wetlands, and the impact land trusts have had on the protection of wetlands. The culmination of this websites gives evidence to the connection of wetlands and the wilderness ideal. Without wetlands there is no wilderness ideal because wetlands are a vital component to the delicate balance between man and wilderness.
