"The Door County Land Trust is a non-profit organization whose mission is to permanently protect lands that contribute significantly to the scenic beauty, open space and ecological integrity of Door County."

Shivering Sands

At 483 acres, this is the largest purchase of land made by the DC Land Trust in almost 50 years. The Shivering Sands purchase, made possible by both the National Coastal Wetland Program and the Knowles-Nelson program, is made up of a number of unique geological formations such as acres of forest land, habitat for animals such as the emerald dragonfly and sandhill crane, and cedar swamp. It is available for public recreation.

Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust

"The mission of the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust is to preserve lands that protect our waters, landscapes, and natural habitats for this and future generations."

The Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust, according to their official site, has protected 4,600+ acres in the 16 years that it has been in operation.

Gukenberk-Strum Preserve/Stroebe Marsh Preserve

This preserve, given to the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust, is about 48 acres large. Situated along the Fox River, it is home to open cattail marsh, which has been almost entirely destroyed in this area due to boating and dams. It is known for being vital to having healthy water and soil in the Fox River Valley. It also provides food and shelter for animals that live in such environments and can't go anywhere else along the river.

Peshtigo Rivers Confluence

The Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust has this location marked as "protected forever." The Peshtigo Rivers Confluence is made of 24 acres of floodplain wetland. When the waters recede, the area is home to a wide number of animals such as minks, wood ducks, sandhill cranes, and bald eagles. White cedars and silver maples also call this area home as well.
